Antoine Griezmann makes Lionel Messi claim with Barcelona new boy relishing Nou Camp start | Football | Sport

Antoine Griezmann joined Barcelona earlier this month before his former club Atletico released a statement condemning their La Liga counterparts.

Atletico have alleged that a deal was agreed between their pair months before talks were made public, which could lead to a huge rise in the total fee.

However, Griezmann is not keen to dwell on his Rojiblancos exit, and is looking forward to lining up alongside Lionel Messi in Catalonia.

“Yes, it will be amazing [to play alongside him],” he told Marca.

“I’m excited to see what he’s like day to day, what he’s like in training.

“[I want to] catch him doing things in training that I will try to repeat or do in my own way and get to know him on and off the pitch.

“I can’t wait for him to arrive.

“I will be ready to do whatever it takes: for him, for the club and for the players.”

When asked if it could be difficult for Barcelona to fit all of their attacking talent into one team, Griezmann stayed positive about the prospect of the potential challenge.

He continued: ”Well, I’m not a difficult person.

“I like to be around people, to enjoy their company and I’m sure that we’ll get on really well.”

The World Cup winner has revealed his pride at joining one of the world’s most famous clubs, and described his initial reaction when the deal was confirmed.

He said: ”Well, I called my father and I started to cry with happiness because I was there, everything was done.

“I was with my friends, my wife and my children and it was an incredible moment.

“The dressing room have welcomed me very well: players, coaching staff and doctors and, for the moment.

“I’m enjoying it and let’s hope I can get enough confidence to speak, be myself and enjoy.”
