Man Utd star Paul Pogba changing mind on Real Madrid transfer despite two initial doubts | Football | Sport
Manchester United star Pogba has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months, despite the Premier League transfer window now being shut.
Los Blancos see the 26-year-old as the ideal player to replace the ageing and waning Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the middle of the park, with manager Zinedine Zidane insistent he must be signed.
But The Sun say that Pogba is now changing his mind and ready to stick it out at Manchester United instead.
Initially, he supposedly had doubts about two things.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was one of them, despite the United manager enjoying a stunning start to his Old Trafford reign last season.
And Pogba also doubted whether the players around him at the club were good enough to challenge for honours.
However, the report says ‘his thinking is changing’.
Pogba is now supposedly happy at United and delighted at Solskjaer’s decision to play him in the same position he occupies for France.
He said as much after the game, saying: “In terms of organisation, it is a bit more like how I play with the French national team.
“It does not bother me where I play, whether it is higher or lower, we adapt and enjoy.”
The report also claims Pogba’s attitude has been positive.
He is a popular player at United who provides much of the fun and behind the scenes energy at the club’s Carrington training ground.
And it is said ‘most of the squad love him’ as well.
Despite lessening his stance on a move to Real Madrid, Pogba did admit that question marks hovered over his future in the aftermath of the club’s 4-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.
The France international was on song as a Marcus Rashford brace and further strikes from Anthony Martial and Daniel James gave them all three points.
Yet Pogba said afterwards: “Obviously there have been things said but only time will tell.
“This question mark remains. However, as I said, I am here in Manchester.
“I enjoy playing with my teammates and I always want to win every game.
“I always give it everything. I am always good whenever I play football. It is what I love – it is my job. I give the maximum each time I am on a green pitch.”
