Bologna swept Pisa aside 3-0 in the Coppa Italia Third Round with Andrea Poli, Riccardo Orsolini and Rodrigo Palacio.

The Rossoblu will take on Udinese in the next stage of the tournament in December.

As throughout the summer and for the foreseeable future, Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic watched the game via live-streaming from his hospital bed, where he is undergoing treatment for leukaemia.

The first official outing of the season almost got off to a bad start, as Pisa hit the crossbar early on, but Andrea Poli put Bologna in front with a precise header on Roberto Soriano’s cross.

Mattia Destro turned wide and Riccardo Orsolini was denied by a goal-line clearance, but the winger did get his goal with a left-foot strike from a tight angle. It was a rugby-style move left to right from Rodrigo Palacio to Soriano and eventually Orsolini.

Palacio added a third himself moments later, a curler into the far top corner that was simply unstoppable.

Lukasz Skorupski kept the clean sheet in the final minute by denying Asencio’s lob.

Pisa 0-3 Bologna

Poli 21 (B), Orsolini 61 (B), Palacio 63 (B)

Bologna: Skorupski; Tomiyasu, Danilo, Denswil, Dijks; Poli (Svanberg 76), Kingsley, Soriano; Orsolini, Destro (Santander 72), Palacio (Sansone 83)
