Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp left frustrated despite comfortable Reds win at Burnley | Football | Sport
Trent Alexander-Arnold looked to have claimed the opener, when his cross went in off the back of Chris Wood.
The Premier League tweeted just before half-time: “After review, #PL Match Centre has confirmed the goal as a Chris Wood OG after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross was deflected in.”
Further goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino ensured Liverpool made it 13 league wins in a row for the first time in their history.
But Jurgen Klopp was left surprised at the news the opener didn’t go down as Alexander-Arnold’s goal.
The German made his disbelief known when he was informed by Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison.
The baffled manager said: “Really? How is that possible?”
To which Patrick Davison replied: “It took a deflection off Chris Wood’s back, I don’t know if you know that?”
Klopp added while pulling a confused face at the camera: “Well okay, we’ll make do anyway.
“Err, well yeah. Okay we were a bit lucky with the own goal but anyway we forced that situation.
“The second goal was a sensational counter attack and finish by Sadio. Brilliant part from Bobby as well.
“Control the game as much as you can because of the set pieces, their long ball is good.
“The last line today was incredible how we defended, completely clear, no fouls.
“We were physical yes, aggressive but not overly aggressive. That was brilliant.
“Everybody worked their socks off, we have to respect our opponent in games like this and I thought we were brilliant. I loved the game.”
