Sadio Mane gives verdict on Liverpool future after Real Madrid transfer links | Football | Sport

There was a period of time when many felt that Sadio Mane was not receiving the plaudits he deserved.

Now that’s definitely not the case after the star enjoyed the best season of his career which saw him win the Premier League Golden Boot, sharing the award with Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the Champions League.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly a fan of the star, which has seen the Senegal international linked with a move to the Bernabeu in the past two summer windows.

But now Mane has issued a message of reassurance to any Liverpool fans feeling uneasy about a potential departure to the La Liga giants.

“To be honest, I’m really happy to be a part of the club, the family here,” he said in an interview with Complex.

“We have the best fans in the world here, so I’m always so thankful for the support.

“It’s not just great for me too – it gives the whole squad more motivation to perform.

“It keeps us hungry to get better and better together.

“I really struggle to describe how happy I am to be here!”

Mane struck four times on the road to Madrid last season, where Liverpool lifted their sixth European Cup after beating Tottenham 2-0 on June 1.

That’s six less than the previous Champions League campaign when he hit 10 before eventually finishing runners up to Real Madrid.

The celebrations back in Liverpool after winning number six – which saw over 750,000 supporters take to the streets – are something Mane will never forget.

He added: “When we came back to Liverpool with the trophy, it was just incredible to discover how much it meant to the people here. The mood of the city was just crazy!

“Winning it and seeing how much it meant has given us all more motivation this season to perform, and win more trophies for this club.”
